Göta student union

The student movement in Gothenburg dates back to the late 19th century. Gothenburg University was founded in 1891, the same year as the first student association at Gothenburg University was formed. In 1907, the student union became the University of Gothenburg Student Union and is a direct model for what is today Göta studentkår. Göta studentkår represents five of the university's eight faculties, and each faculty has its own section within the student union's organization. In the autumn, the kick-off is arranged in all five sections at the same time, while in the spring term we only run in the Humanities section, the Social Sciences section and the Educational In Sweden, it is optional whether you want to be a member of a student union or not. The majority of student unions, however, offers the possibility to get a little more of your time in Sweden - so take the chance and become a member!
